FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

When things seem bad, there is always a way to get back up again and make it a better day.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

It helps us explore possibilities for future careers. It might actually encourage students like me to want to produce, direct, act, film or edit as their future job.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

The goofy boyfriend/girlfriend scenes with Chloe’s brother and enemy (Henry and McKenzie). Gavin S. (Henry) actually found a real bug and so we added it to the scene.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

We struggled with continuity and having to film scenes again to make sure a prop was present, grass was the same color, Chloe was wearing her sweater, etc. Also, when shooting our actor’s point of view, we had a hard time steadying the camera for the credits.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

Make sure that there are not missing objects in the background that are really obvious. Take pictures so you know exactly how everything looks if you have to reshoot the scene or shoot a new part of the scene the next day.
