A story about overcoming grievance and forgiveness. A touching tale about a son and father still scarred by the death of the mother.

FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

I want them to take away how the death of a family member can affect relationships within a family.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

The reason I feel this festival is important for so many people is because it gives student filmmakers on a slim budget a chance to show off what they know about film and get in front of people to watch so their work doesn’t go unrecognized.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

My favorite scene filming was the last on because it was the first time my dad ever did acting, and I got to sleep during it on the couch while filming. It was also one of the first scenes I ever acted out with multiple people and it was fun figuring out the day for night situation.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

Definitely the day for night situation in the final two scenes as well as figuring out a way to show how time has passed before and after I leave for school in the film. It helped me learn the amount of time a film actually takes to make, and also the handwork actors, directors, editors, etc. have when making films.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

From my two months of experience in filming, DON’T WAIT TILL THE LAST MONTH TO FILM!!!!
