FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

I would like the audience to walk away with a better understanding of the importance of familial relationships. I would also like each person who sees the film to want to strengthen those relationships and their understanding of the people they have them with.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

I value this opportunity so much because I aim to be a filmmaker for my future profession. Opportunities like this help me to gain experience and learn more about my goals.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

I loved filming the scene in which the three characters are in the car after leaving the school. My cast and I had so much fun filming this scene and we laughed together so much!!! I feel like filming these scene brought us closer together.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

I mainly experienced trouble when it came to working with what I had. I found myself trying to do things for my film that could really only be done with high-quality equipment, but I slowly learned to just do the best with what I had.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

I would say to just have fun with it! This has been a great experience so far and I would say that it’s most important to use this time to learn more about yourself as a filmmaker and an artist. Using this opportunity to improve your skill and experience while still enjoying it is the best thing you can do. Over all, do your best!
