FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

I want the audience to take away the importance of family and unconditional love. No matter what happens, a true family will love you and be there for you no matter what.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

It gives opportunities to students like myself to get out of their comfort zone and create something. This documentary is essentially a time capsule that we will be able to keep forever and we would not have done it without the Film Prize Junior.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

I had a lot of fun filming the interviews with my parents, specifically my mom. Her emotion was raw and the love for us was so evident.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

The biggest challenge was getting people to be interviewed. It showed me how much people hate being in front of the camera. I have learned that sometimes you can not predict what is gonna happen, but you have to lean into the process and something great can still happen even if you are faced with obstacles.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

Do something you are passionate about and do not confine yourself to one idea. Sometimes one idea leads into a better idea. Just enjoy the process and create art because at the end of the day the actual creating is what is most important. Do not worry about the outcome, just focus on the process.
