Learning Through the Magic of Making Movies

From storytelling to life skills, our program prepares students to be responsible, collaborative community members.

Cinematic Collaboration in the Classroom

It’s not just about making a movie, it’s about working together to make something amazing.

Stories Only Students Can Tell

Students have so much to say about their life and their heritage. Let it shine with Film Prize Junior!

What is Film Prize Junior?

Film Prize Junior offers a project-based learning opportunity for middle and high school students across Louisiana and New Mexico to dive into the world of filmmaking. This film education program and student short film competition encourages educators and students to collaborate on creating, writing, producing, editing, and promoting a short film with guidance and support from our dedicated team members and experienced film mentors.

Participating in Film Prize Junior allows students to not only develop their creative and technical skills while sharing stories that they want to tell, but learn life skills that will help them regardless of their destination in life. Film submissions are showcased at our student film festival in the spring. Additionally, schools can compete for substantial rewards, including film equipment, student celebration funds, and cash prizes for educators.

JOIN THE FILMMAKING REVOLUTION!

To get started, educators of 5th – 12th grade students can register their school or community organization and introduce the program to aspiring student filmmakers! From there, the Film Prize Junior team keeps in touch with registrants throughout the filmmaking process to provide educators and their students with reminders, resources, and training every step of the way. No matter what education or resources are available at your school, Film Prize Junior will be there for guidance and support.
