FILMMAKER INTERVIEW
What do you want the audience to take away from the film?
I want the audience to laugh a little bit. In a world that’s so serious, a little bit of laughter never hurt anyone.
Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?
These opportunities are vital for students to immerse themselves into the film industry and get support and recognition from those already working inside the industry.
Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?
The main scene was entirely improvised and I found that moving the camera to capture everything that was going on an exciting challenge.
What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?
The biggest obstacle faced was coordinating and managing the chaos of improvisation with students who have limited acting experience. It was a good opportunity to practice collaborating and communicating with a single vision in mind.
What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?
Be open to changes. The concept of this short film from script to screen changed radically, but for the better. Make a plan, but be prepared and open minded to take suggestions, even if they sound crazy to begin.
