Film Prize Foundation, Inc. (hereinafter “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our websites and use our services, including Film Prize Junior (FPJR), Film Prize, Food Prize, Music Prize, Startup Prize, Comedy Prize, and Fashion Prize.

 

 

Information We Collect

We may collect personal information that identifies you ( such as the individual’s name, address, email address, and phone number) in the following ways:

Information you provide to us directly

Website forms and newsletters – You may be asked to provide personal information to us when you sign up for newsletters, fill out online forms, make a donation, or register to participate.

Festival Entry – Teachers, with written consent from the parents or legal guardians, will provide the names of children participating in Film Prize Junior. Some demographic information may be volunteered. Festival entries may also include images, audio, and video of your students/child. 

Surveys – From time to time, Film Prize Junior and its Service Providers may collect personal information via online surveys, polls, or other interactive activities on topics related to our programs or the Services. Participation in these surveys is voluntary. 

Festival RSVP and Special Offers – Film Prize Junior collects personal information, such as your name and email, when you vote in the in-person or online festival, RSVP for the festival or any special events, or participate in any of our raffles.

 

Information collected from your use of the Services

Cookies and Other Technologies – Services may automatically gather details such as which pages you view on their website or how much time you spend on each page, as well as your IP address and data collected through browser cookies. Cookies are small files stored on your computer’s hard drive. You can disable cookies by adjusting your browser settings, but doing so might prevent you from accessing some parts of our services. By continuing to use our services with your browser set to accept cookies, you agree to our use of cookies. The types of cookies we use include, but are not limited to:

Social Media Widgets – We may include social media features, such as the Facebook “Like” button and widgets, the “Share” this button or interactive mini-programs that run on our Services. These features may collect information, such as your IP address and other data, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third-party or hosted directly on our Services. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

Information Collected from Service Providers

In certain circumstances, our Service Providers may collect personal information on our behalf. For example, as of [date], Film Prize Junior New Mexico uses MC2 Education (https://www.mc2educationllc.com/) to evaluate our program. MC2 Education collects data and information (including personal information) from Film Prize Junior New Mexico participants, which we use for various purposes, including communicating with you about previous or current participation. 

How We Use the Information Collected

We may use the information collected from you to:

  • Communicate with you, including responding to your inquiries and providing the information you request from us.
  • Send you email newsletters and other information about participating and attending events.
  • Communicate with you about how we can support your school’s film production.
  • Administer and protect the Services, including to detect, investigate, and prevent activities that may violate our policies or be illegal.
  • Enforce the legal terms that govern your use of our Services and/or for the purposes for which you provided the information.

Film Prize Junior may feature your child in various ways, such as images, audio, and video in submissions, live-streamed red-carpet events, interviews, and promotional content on our website and social media platforms. Personal Information and optional demographic information are collected for film crediting and grant purposes. 

  • Process film submissions, including parental consent forms and students’ images, audio, and video.
  • Conduct student interviews about their filmmaking experience as a part of the Promotion phase of our program.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services, including research and analytics regarding program participants. 

We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which we collected it unless we determine that we need to use it for another reason and that is consistent with the original purpose(S) and/or as required or permitted by law.

How we Share the Information Collected

  • Film Submissions including students’ names, school, image, video, and audio may be used in various ways.
    • Films are played at an in-person festival.
    • Films are uploaded online to Youtube (https://youtube.com) for embedding on our website.
    • Behind-the-scenes photos, posters, and film stills will be hosted online on our website and may be used for educational purposes.
    • Red carpet interviews will be conducted via Zoom and broadcast live on our socials and website. Interviews may be used in videos promoting the program.

We do not share or disclose your personal information to any third parties, except as described in the Privacy Policy or as authorized by you.

Choice/Opt-Out

If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter or other email communications from us, you may opt out of receiving these communications by following the “unsubscribe” instructions of the bottom of each email or emailing us directly, if applicable.

Policy Regarding Children

FPJR’s general audience websites and mobile services (LMS) are not directed to children under the age of 13 and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. All information provided on our website via contact forms, registration, or RSVPs should be from the parent/legal guardian of the child or their Teacher Producer with parental consent.

Security

We have put in place reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Data Retention

Film Prize Junior ensures that all Personal Information (PI) is used exclusively for program and competition purposes. This information is stored securely offline, with student PI deleted one year after the festival’s conclusion. The information provided by Teacher Sponsors regarding your child is aggregated, and personally identifiable information is deleted. 

Film Prize Junior does not delete without permission from the Teacher Producer:

  • Film Submissions
  • Behind the Scenes Photos
  • Film Stills
  • Red Carpet Interviews
  • Film Posters

If you would like to request to review, correct, restrict, or delete your child’s personal information that you or the Teacher Producer have previously provided to us, please contact the Teacher Producer to reach out to us.

Changes to this Policy

We may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes to this page along with a notice at the end of the Privacy Policy of the last date that any changes were made. Your continued use of the Services following the posting of any changes will mean you accept those changes.

FILM PRIZE FOUNDATION, INC.

Film Prize Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2012. Our mission is to promote economic development, workforce development, youth job training, art-based and entrepreneurial business development through film production, education, live and recorded music events, conferences, competitions, and festivals in the Shreveport-Bossier area. We operate six major initiatives year-round: Louisiana Film Prize, Startup Prize, Film Prize Junior, Food Prize, Music Prize, and Fashion Prize.

LOUISIANA FILM AND ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATION (LFEA)

LFEA is a 501(c) 6 non-profit that exists to support and promote the Louisiana film entertainment industry. Founded in 2010, LFEA has played a major role in shaping the film and television industry in the state of Louisiana. With its primary role focused on the legislative process and access to the state’s motion picture tax credit program for all levels of filmmakers, LFEA has also fostered within it’s organization an educational component focused on high school students. In 2018, LFEA created the Louisiana Student Film Festival aimed to invest in the voices of Louisiana students by empowering them to share their stories through film. The winners of the 2020 competition were announced in a live online ceremony. And in partnership with WYES-New Orleans, the winning films were broadcast on PBS and PBS-Kids.
