FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

A feeling of inexplicable dread and anxiousness.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

Events like Film Prize Junior offer an opportunity for young artists to interact with like minded individuals and make connections with people working in the film industry in Louisiana. Doing this at an especially young age allows the dream of being a Hollywood filmmaker a reality.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

The scene where Protagonist does his deed was by far the most important scene in the film and we wanted to do it right. Crafting the lighting, the shot composition, the performances, all of it was exhausting but definitely rewarding. Seeing it all come together for the first time was magical.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

Shooting during the night was very difficult, especially when everyone was very tired and very hungry. From that experience I learned the value of people’s time, and that when we are making a film we need to move with haste.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

Constantly make art. Do not ever stop making art. To make it in this industry, you always need to be working.
