The Love Ranch
LOGLINE
Ranch owner Lavender Glasse meets Travis, a banker, and while he takes room and board in her home, they go close, until she uncovers the sinister truth to why he came to the ranch, and it’s up to him to repair their relationship before he loses her forever.
FILMMAKER INTERVIEW
What do you want the audience to take away from the film?
This short film is a take on classic Hallmark Christmas Films, in an almost satirical way, where two people fall in love amid unlikely circumstances, just in time to celebrate a holiday together.
Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?
For students who have an interest in working in the film industry to have an opportunity to practice and simulate how a job in film would really be like.
Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?
My favorite scenes were the ones with Mr. Sprinkles, as it was always hilarious watching Kathryn (the actress) attempt to act like a horse.
What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?
Definitely scheduling, as most of us are seniors and we recruited some of our friends who are college students to help act in the film, so we were working around each of our school and personal schedules. That I don’t particularly enjoy acting with a love interest.
What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?
Don’t take it too seriously, just have fun and it’ll work out.
