A short documentary about a taste of Honduran culture.

FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

I would like for the audience to walk away with a newfound appreciation for other cultures through food. I encourage the audience to try new experiences through cuisine while sharing their heritage. It can be a joyful experience for all involved.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

Film Prize Junior is important for students like me so that different types of stories can be shared with an audience. I realized I really enjoy shooting. I enjoy working with a production team. I learned new skills that I didn’t know I can do. It was exciting and a lot of fun. I hope having this experience allows for me to work on more productions.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

I enjoyed filming and interviewing the owner of Sabor Catracho. She had insight on how she began her business with just one dish and then later expanded into a full menu. She was inspiring. I also enjoyed sharing the food with friends. We had so much fun.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

Planning was quite a challenge. We had to arrange to meet and shoot out of order so editing everything together also became a challenge. Working together helped a lot and being willing to stay flexible helped to finish the project.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

Plan ahead and be willing to go with the flow when the plan has to change but make sure to start as early as you can.
