LOGLINE

Teenage lives are interrupted after one wrong and devastating decision is made a party. All it took was a quick second, and life for them may never be the same.

FILMMAKER INTERVIEW

What do you want the audience to take away from the film?

I hope the audience takes away from this documentary how devastating teen gun violence is especially for the victims and the suspects themselves. Their lives will likely be altered forever.

Why are opportunities like Film Prize Junior important to students like you?

Opportunities like Film Prize junior give students a chance to challenge ourselves, learn from other students’ work, and compete for recognition, which is always fun.

Which scene did you have an absolute blast filming and why?

I enjoyed talking to the brave, young student who got shot at a party. She and her friends, who were also at the party, were inspirational.

What obstacles challenged you and your crew the most when completing this film? What did you learn from making this short film?

One of my biggest challenges was working with limited video and lengthy interviews and trying to coordinate and condense the interviews into a compelling story. I learned not to give up. I also learned many people are willing to go on camera and tell their stories, even when you think they might not want to do that.

What advice would you give to future participants in Film Prize Junior?

My advice to future participants in Film Prize Junior is to come up with a solid plan, follow through, and be flexible to adjust when things don’t work out.
